Chronicling the bad with the good. . .

As much as I hate to document it, Nico had a bit of an accident on Sunday afternoon. She tried to climb on top of, and burned her hands on, a hot grill. :(

We were pretty freaked out, but Nico is quite a trooper. Following the on-call doctor's instructions, we gave Nico some Motrin (not part of the recalled lots!!), put some antibiotic ointment on the burns and covered them up. Nico wasn't too happy with this at first, but she's come to willingly accept her 'mittens' and even requires everyone else around her to have them, including Teddy Bear, Dada, and Merka (Grandma M).

Yes, Merka is here to help us out, since we wanted to keep Nico home and help the wounds heal as cleanly as possible. And that, as it turns out, is the best medicine of all. This little girl can't stand to be away from Merka for more than 2 seconds!!

Yesterday, the pediatrician gave us a prescription ointment for burns, some instructions on keeping it clean, and told us he'd seen worse. She'll be back for a follow up in a week, but he expects she'll be just fine. We love our pediatrician!

Nico really is holding up well, and we are very grateful it wasn't worse than it was. Accidents happen. We just hope to not have any/too many more in our future!

NICO, you do not have to plan an accident for MERKA to come, just tell mama and dada and MERKA will be here in just one hour and 15 minutes. Love the time being with you and watching you, a non-stop activities all day long. Love you, little "sweet" NICO.

Oh Monique, I didn't know about this! I'm SO sorry and I'm sure that you were so freaked out. But it sounds like Nico was so brave and everything turned out ok. So awesome that Merka (love that, btw!) was able to come and stay w/her, too!
