What an awesome day! We took Nico to the Austin Zoo this morning and it was fun! No, it's not on the level of any 'big city' zoo, but there was practically no one there, and we could see the animals up close! And even though the selection of animals is a bit more petting zoo than 'real' zoo, it was a perfect mix for Nico. She was so excited to see real tigers and lions and pigs and goats. :)
The Prairie Dog cage. Seriously. And this was the first thing we saw! Nico was so excited, she didn't want to leave. We had to explain there were monkeys around the corner. . .
"TIGER!" could be heard for miles. . .
"Turtle" - Just her size. :)
NO fear. This girl was happy to feed any and all the animals that we were allowed to! And we explained that an open-hand technique was safest. We even showed her how to do it. She would literally put the pellets INSIDE THEIR MOUTHS. Thankfully, these are very tame and gentle goats. . .
